Wednesday 3^rd Sept 6pm: Alex Willis, author of ‘Step by Step Guitar Making’ with local musicians (followed by live folk music in the pub from 9pm)

Thurs and Fri 4^th & 5^th Sept from 2pm: Science Fiction and Fantasy book and art exhibition featuring Kate O Hearn, whose book ‘Shadow of the Dragon’ is published by Hodder, artwork by Katy J Jones and books from Earlyworks Press.

Friday 5^th Sept from 7pm: The Unspeakable and The Unprintable Writer and press editor Kay Green discusses dealing with sensitive and ‘taboo’ subjects in writing and publishing.

Tuesday 9^th Sept 2pm: Discussion: ‘Ways into a Writing Career’ led by Kay Green, whose first book was published by Elastic Press. Kay is now editor of Circaidy Gregory Press and administrator of the Earlyworks Press Writers & Reviewers Club

Thursday 11^th Sept 7pm. Workshop: ‘How to Win Writing Competitions’ featuring the winners of the Hastings ‘Writing Competitions’ competition.

Saturday 13th Sept from 2pm Helena Wojtczak owner of the Hastings Press and author of five books of women’s and local history, will be displaying, signing, selling and talking about Hastings Press books.

Saturday 13^th Sept 3 pm: Croft Productions Presents ‘DOWN BOTTLE ALLEY‘, a play by Tom O’Brien, based on the book ‘My Wretched Alcoholism, this Damn Puppeteer’ by Brian Charles Harding, Performed by Tim Skelton and James Lawne, directed by John Dunne, followed by a discussion with the authors, Tom and Brian.

Mon and Tues 15^th & 16^th Sept from 2pm: Meet the author days – a variety of local authors will be signing and talking about their books. Featuring Dr Trevor Hopper, author of Robert Tressell’s Hastings, Steve Peak, author of Fishermen in Hastings, thriller writer Andy Oakes with ‘Dragon’s Eye’ and ‘Citizen One’, published by Pan Macmillan. Hastings Writers Group will be there, with their anthologies ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Strandline’, local historian Keith Leech on 25 years of Jack-in-the-Green, also Jane Richardson, Monica Tracey, Derek Moss and others TBA

Wednesday 17^th Sept from 6pm: Informal poetry workshop All welcome. If you have work-in-progress you’d like to discuss, please bring several copies. (There will be live folk music in the pub from 9pm.)

Thursday 18th Sept from 2pm: Victoria Seymour, local social history writer, runs an ongoing discussion and display session with her collection of WWII and other vintage photos of Hastings

Seaford’s Music and Arts festival is to be held at pubs, cafes, bars and theatres across Seaford, East Sussex with free entry to many events.   Events include a classical night, new drama night, folk, rock and new bands plus a ‘THEY THINK IT’S ALL OVER’ live gig as well as much, much more.

Funds will be raise throughout the event for charities including Newhaven Lifeboat, St Wilfrid’s Hospice and Macmillan Nurses’ Local Fund.

Other work this month produced by Excell Design includes an identity and branding for AJ Language Consulting and Physio Footprint as well as producing the new prospectus and marketing materials for Wandsworth’s Summer University.

Things to consider before making your purchase are all fairly straight forward but will make life easier if you consider them first. For starters what size rug do you require? If your are particularly fashion conscious then you may want to look into things in more detail then maybe peruse through some textiles magazines there’s plenty out there but Selvedge magazine appears to be the most popular, and its a fantastic resource for getting good ideas.

Rug manufacturers have for some time been combining traditional and contemporary designs so you no longer have to trade off one for the other. It is now very possible and desirable to obtain a rug that is contemporary in design but made using traditional methods with that added benefit of being both ethical and sustainable.

Remember that a well placed rug can really bring a touch of style and art to your home, it’s these finishing touches that can change a space from a boring room lacking in character and definition into a truly unique and beautiful contemporary living space. Try to narrow down your searches by including details about the kind of rug you are looking for, if you just search “rugs” then you are going to get about 48,300,000 results to trawl through so if you know that you specifically want a pink 100% wool rug the search for that. When you spot something that you like, don’t forget to bookmark the page so that you can find it again easily later.

Don’t rush your choice have a good look around compare shipping prices (a lot of websites offer free shipping now) if you see a rug you like and require more information or want to see more pictures email the seller and ask, try and choose a rug that is appropriate for the space you are putting it in as opposed to just buying the first thing you like and then realizing it clashes with your furniture.

Is it about posting up a quick little bit of text, hoping that the Google juice of Sus Bus Net brings untold customers of untold wealth? Is it about sharing information, getting to know other people, as on a forum; cyber-networking?  Is it a vehicle for Pacifica (?) to establish a clientèle in Sussex?

I’ve dealt with, and being impressed by Ed, so am really a tad puzzled. So if anyone is actually out there, please, some clues?

Ed: Hi Matthew. Good question! Unfortunately I’m a bit behind where I’d like this website to be due to starting up two companies and recently having surgery. Once I’m on-track, I’ll spend more time developing this site with a few criteria in mind. Principally, it’s a directory to give a local link back to websites and a board to publish information about company news, offers etc. It’s a way I can also keep in touch with people and keep up to date with who’s doing what etc. In the mid to long term I’d like to develop this into a wider Sussex directory and eventually hold meets by members for members. There is a specific aim for this site and it will become clearer in the coming months now I’m nearly back to health and picking up steam. :-)
